Praise be the One to whom our praise is due! Praise be the One to whom our praise is due, now and forever!

We praise You, Eternal Adonai Sovereign of the universe: You have called us to Your service by giving us the Torah.

We praise You, O Adonai, Giver of the Torah.

Baruch Adonai ham’vo-rach l’o-lam va-ed

Baruch Atah Adonai, Eloheinu Melech ha-o-lam, a-sher ba-char banu mi-kol ha’a-mim, v’na-tan lanu et Torah-to.

Baruch Atah Adonai, no-tein ha-Torah.

PRAYER AFTER READING THE TORAH

We praise You, Eternal Adonai, Sovereign of the universe, You have given us a Torah of truth, implanting within us eternal life.

We praise You, O Adonai, Giver of the Torah.

Baruch Atah Adonai, Eloheinu Melech ha-o-lam, a-sher na-tan la-nu Torat emet, v’cha-yei o-lam na-ta b’to-chei-nu.

Baruch Atah Adonai, no-tein ha-Torah.

Why "Honey"? Read Psalm 19:7-11

19:7 Hashem’s law is perfect, restoring the soul. Hashem’s covenant is sure, making wise the simple. 8 Hashem’s precepts are right, rejoicing the heart. Hashem’s commandment is pure, enlightening the eyes. 9 The fear of Hashem is clean, enduring forever. Hashem's ordinances are true, and righteous altogether. 10 They are more to be desired than gold, yes, than much fine gold, sweeter also than honey and the extract of the honeycomb. 11 Moreover your servant is warned by them. In keeping them there is great reward.
